Empowering the next generation of criminal justice leaders

Dismantling harmful narratives by centering voices and leadership of those most impacted.

Prison2PublicPolicy fights against the racialized myths that fuel policies that criminalize rather than humanize people. Our work advocates for evidence-based practices that build true public safety in our communities, and challenge traditional conceptions of “justice.”

Our Projects

The Bars2Brotherhood project is a collaborative effort between Prison2PublicPolicy and the H.O.N.O.R. Program at the Cheshire Correctional Institution. Participants in the H.O.N.O.R. Program have worked to express their experiences and wisdom through poetry and prose. This writing project explores different themes related to the humanity that every incarcerated person possesses.

This project creates a fuller picture of what public safety truly is and can be. Part of this project brings awareness to the stigma of the “victim” or “survivor” label and survivor trauma. The goal is to demystify, destigmatize, and redefine the word “survivor.”
